For over a quarter of a century, I have been working within digital media, researching user behavior, crafting flowcharts, building architectural wireframes, coding hi-fi prototypes, conducting online surveys, moderating usability tests, and mentoring junior colleagues in the fashion, media, scientific, and health industries.

As a member of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s transformative DigITs team, I led product design efforts within both Service and Research Platforms.

Baseline Objectives as a Lead

  • partnered with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Engineers, users, and leadership to craft and elevate multidimensional user experiences at scale
  • architected, designed, and hosted qualitative and quantitative user research sessions, workshops, and activities
  • ensured products were beautiful and easy to use for patients
  • collaborated with the design team to build out quarterly roadmaps, balancing team capacity with product needs
  • established page layouts, information hierarchies, and pattern libraries
  • explored custom solutions, weighing their value against time and resources

  • collaborated with developers to design more efficient implementations within the constraints of Salesforce’s HealthCloud
  • coordinated with Project Managers to review the limitations of and expand the scope of Epic, Cadence, and various third-party tools, such as Full Focus

  • mentored junior designers to produce designs that were elegant, efficient, and economical
  • integrated with UX Research to provide long-tail studies and foster broad discovery
  • designed dashboards and interfaces for effortless query building, natural language processing, artificial intelligence integration, data governance, data piping, and resource selection

  • worked closely with pathology and histology teams to research and develop intuitive tools

I was responsible for the UX of OVID, the world’s most trustworthy resource for medical information.

  • used UX research methods to observe, assess, and iterate through design prototypes and research findings
  • designed solutions to reduce option fatigue and user frustration while surfacing hard-to-find research functionality deeply embedded within the tool
  • contributed to Wolters Kluwer’s reimagining of this core resource by building relevancy models and testing them with current users

This role focused on creating intuitive, efficient user experiences that empowered researchers to access critical medical information with ease.

Sr UX Designer / Developer at Thermo Fisher Scientific

Mar 2014 / Aug 2018

Thermo Fisher Scientific is the world’s largest supplier of resources, instruments, and consumables for the biotechnology and scientific communities.

Key Contributions:

  • Reduced production costs for the Selection Guides project from over $30k and 60 days to less than $500 and three days by analyzing and unifying 358 disparate e-commerce tools across thermofisher.com.
  • Designed e-commerce awareness within a cloud application, allowing global bench scientists to integrate product recommendations directly into uploaded lab notes. This feature received 100% adoption reviews and was highlighted by users as the primary reason to use the application.
  • Developed a JavaScript library within Adobe AEM to push UX-specific tracking data into Adobe Site-Catalyst, enabling deeper analysis of user behavior through a “User Effort Currency” metric.

This work not only optimized production workflows but also enhanced user experiences and provided actionable insights for improving Thermo Fisher’s digital platforms.

Innovation Forecast Manager, Consultant

A colleague at Firmenich, my former employer, asked for assistance in guiding global teams on effective practices for social media engagement and conversion.

I met with and guided remote global teams, producing interactive reports that detailed insights, findings, and recommendations. We mined social media data pools to analyze trends and develop predictions.

From time to time, over the years, I have stepped in and out of the fragrance world. Olfaction is so fascinating that I am always inclined to keep the door ajar.

Artistic Director at Firmenich

At the start of my corporate career, I was a co-creator of The Sensorium, an annual interactive marketing installation that redefined what a presentation could be within the health and beauty industry. “Sensoriums” continue on as a core brand for Firmenich.

My primary clients were  Victoria’s Secret, LVMH, AVON, and all Estée Lauder brands.

I produced artwork within their existing design languages to win business by focusing solely on communicating aspirational experience. During this time, I authored and programmed robust multimedia stories in Flash and Director to serve the demands of this fast-paced environment.

Decorative Painter, Muralist

After graduate school, I spent several years working in the homes and houses of high-end clients. Faux finishes, murals, and the occasional portrait. 

Life as a painter was brutal and high stress. In 1996, I was working in Palm Beach at a private residence when I picked up a book on this weird thing called HTML.
